i need a little bit of work done…
ive never had body work done on any of my cars so i dont really know where would be a good place to go for a good price that wont be overly expensive but wont do a half ass bondo job or something of the sort.
i went to Schmiddts on pearl where my insurance sent me…they gave me an estimate, then went to the one on sheridan cuz i know they give lower estimates, but this time, they didnt, they upped it by quite a bit.
from previous experiences…where would you guys suggest?
*im sure someone will ask why, what happened…my car is new…etc…
i was going up a bridge 2 fridays ago and it was snowing super bad and apparently the whole bridge was covered in black ice. i was probably 5 car lenths behind the car infront of me…i was going LESS than 10 mph due to the snow…i saw this girl spin out before me, so i started to slow down even more…and my car just WOULDNT …then my brakes locked up…and i started to slide.
so to avoid hitting her i slammed my car into the gaurd rail…that didnt stop…so i slid down the bridge and hit her cuz she was perpendicular to me, then the gaurd rail, again and got pinned inbetween.
there was nothing i could ahve done. everyone who saw it said i did the best possible thing for the situation. it sucks. there was nothing else i could have done…unless i turned left and went to oncoming traffic. ive never not had control of my car, and its scary as hell.
i have no one to blame but the damn ice and weather…i kinda wish i was drving like ass or someone hit me, then i could be upset with someone or myself…but i cant. ugH.
…but i will tell you this…for hitting several things…my car , is a friggin trooper.looks like barely anything happened…other girls car…broke her door…mine just needs a new fender and new wheel…the gaurdrail took some chunks out of my one rim…grrrr.
theres the gist of it… all this crap before the holidays
is insurance covering it? sorry to hear, but generally if somebody elses insurnace is covering it, get the highest estimate, submit it, go to the lower of the estimates, pocket the change, if your insurance is paying for it, then they might request where you go, in that case make sure the place does good work, you dont want a shistey place workin on ur car
if all 4 tires lock up at once then abs doesnt do shit, that is highly unlikelysince the front brakes will apply more pressure initially, thus locking up, an instance before the rears, so its unlikely that the locked up. most likely the abs kicked in and just didnt help much since she was just sliding and what
with my accident last year i had no choice in the place that fixed my car. when i went to pay him the guy was abe to cut my bill down so i only payed him 300 instead of my 500 deductable. they did pretty good work considering it was 11,000 dollars in damages. besides there slow work (took awhile) u get the ultimate loaner car (v6 aries with a rod knok). they were called certified collison and glass in wheatfield but carruba bought there name. my insurance picked up the bill for the 2 bald tires i had.
don’s auto body on union does great work too…they fixed my brothers beretta with similar damage and you can’t even tell the car was hit. i’d get an estimate from them too.
