boost spike on vw

boost spike ? on vw jetta 2002 …peaks at 15lbs with forge recir bov…any suggestions how to fix this … leave it on pbsniper4evr89@aol.com

What BC do you use? Peaks at 15PSI? Is that the spike? What’s the target?

the boost will go up to 15 then drop to 5 then back up to 15 … pretty much happens in every gear . i duno if this is normal or what .First turbo car and orginal owner did some mods trying to figure out what he did .

15 to 5 and back to 15 is not normal.

Find out if it is a MBC or EBC. I had that problem with my EBC which had the limiter set up for 16PSI and it hit 17 and would open up the WG causing the boost to go up and down.

you need a new n75 valve. do you have a big muffler on the car? if so, i seen this thing around. if your boosting 15 psi, its chipped.

thats a weak chip if your spiking 15… my revo spiked 23-24 on my k03 then would drop back down to 18-19psi, and as we all know, over 5800 rpm the turbo falls on its face and i made 9psi or so at redline

sounds like a bad MBC…

Is the boost controlled by BC or ECU? If BC, remove it from system and run WG boost and see if it’s steady.

owner said it was a maped ecu ?.. and i got a line connected to my wastegate that hooks up the intake section do you guys know what thats about … ldoesnt the wategate gotta be hooked up to vaccum ?

its an n75 boost valve, controlled by the ecu. check the vac line that goes to the W/G.

man, i tried to talk to you a while back, and you wouldnt let me talk, and seemed like you didnt care what i had to say at all. you need to fix the CEL you have and let someone who knows something about the car look at it, rather than having your boys rip it around not knowing the issue. for all you know, youre doing more harm than good. a “mapped ECU” sounds like a ignorant term all ECU’s have specific maps, which manufacturer is it, my guess is APR since its 15psi. you need to figure out what your car has for hardware and software and work from that point, reverse the mods that are KNOWN to cause more harm to the car, IE BOV(atmospheric type) MBC, or EBC with N75valve inline, CAI’s are a waste too, anything that may cause a CEL needs to be adressed, you need to VAG-COM or another source of DTC code retrieval, and work on the known issues. take what i say however you may, but my knowledge of this platform is FAR superior to yours, Myself, 1st Gend, 30R_logik, KKKustom… all good sources of information on these platforms. use your resources.

Why would ANYONE drive around with a CEL?

emmission related issues… i have mine on due to a rear o2 that is dead that doesn’t do shit.

I worded my post wrong. It was directed towards people driving around with a CEL but not knowing what it is.

no CEL on my car other than a failed coilpack 15k miles ago… have owned since 7259 miles, now have 438xx… i have my airbag light on since i took my stock wheel off, but a CEL would drive me NUTS!

hehe. i gott buy that sensor soon. i kinda got used to the cel on lol. i feel even better when its not on though!
