how do i do this? I can get my computer to go into safe mode and I tried to install the xp cd i have laying around.
It is an older version than what is failed on the computer.
It says boot from disk is the way to go…but i dont know how to do that.
Get into the bios screen when it boots up and change the boot order.
Could be anything from F1,F2,F10 all depends on what brand (usually it will tell you at the first screen)

try Delete…press them repeatedly not just once. As soon as you see the screen that says press (whatever button) to enter BIOS keep pressing it like Michael J Fox would. To enter safe mode press F8 in case you didn’t know.
the BIOS is probably either F2 or Delete
i have a vista ultimate cd but id need it back

you did get it set to boot from the cd, but the cd just wouldn’t boot, right? atleast thats what you said yesterday 
I have another windows xp disc you can try, it really sounded like you did everything right but the cd just wont load for some reason
