On the car i’m gonna get, the temp guage needle just bounces where the cold section even when its warmed up. Any ideas?
Temp sensor. On the intake mani next to coolant temp sensor.

I dunno how much they are, but prob not too much. I have one on my old engine. You can have it for 10 bucks.
Well i’m probably gonna take it to my mechanic tomorrow anyways to do my cert and allignment. If that is the problem, then i’ll take it off you. THANKS!!

Im having the same thing with my 200sx SE-R, havent looked into it yet though.
Who cares about a temp gauge anyways.
the car will be boiling over before the temp gauge gets anywhere close to
the top.
If you don’t see steam, your ok.

Just put your foot down and it will cool itself off 
i had the same problem…
Black Apple gave me some good advice on this problem. Simply unplug and plug the sensor back in and the problem went away for me. Be sure to see if there is any corrosion on it and clean it off with some WD-40.
my temp guage goes all the way through the roof sometimes
but i never see any steam or smoke…is that a problem?
do you check and see that all of your fluids are there when you see the temp going up so high?
you dont necessarily have to see smoke coming out to acknowledge there is a problem.
