Okay, so who is using what ? I’d assume most people are just running dot 3 or dot 4 but for anyone who has upgraded their fluid, what did you go with ?
After some lite reading I may go with the ATE Super Blue so was curious if anyone has heard anything bad about it.
If you’re thinking about ATF or some racing temp fluid, do it. It’s very very worth it. Especially if you track at all, and with the amount of effort you’ve gone through so far, don’t skimp out on something like that…
I was reading about that Ford dot 3 and was going to give it a try but than read it is notorious for absorbing moisture which alters its boiling point etc so unless you flush it out constantly, its not good for longevity. But that is just what I’ve read.
How long have you been using it for and how have you found it vs the normal dot 3/4 fluid ?
Yea I was looking at/reading about this stuff…
Dry boiling point minimum: 536 degrees F
Wet boiling point minimum: 388 degrees F
And apparently it hardly absorbs any moisture at all making it perfect for longevity and to top it off, its not overly expensive. I just have to find out where I can get it locally cause I want my car on the road this weekend.
Yea I found a few in the GTA as well but after some more research I found out BMW recommends it and uses it so I’m hoping they also stock it but regardless I’m gonna call them up first thing tomorrow morning to find out.
I use some Motul dot 3… I’ve been pretty pleased with how it feels, compared to the shit that was in there before. Plus, my friend gets it for free from his dad’s shop. Free>paying for things.
No luck with BMW… That or the parts guy just clueless.
RBF 600 by Motul was all I could find locally but not only was it more expensive than the ATE Super Blue but you only get 500ml vs 1L.
Still not sure what I’ll go with as I’m going to do a bit more reading and research first but for the time being I’m going with the normal DOT 4 so I can get the car on the road and will just flush out the system in a week or two.
RBF 600, you get what you pay for. My buddy’s dad runs this stuff in his 450 whp 300 zx and it ran all day long at Shannonville without having a single issue with the brakes. It’s going in my car as soon as it comes out of the shop.
