This is regarding a 1996 Plymouth Neon shitpile.
The car’s rear brakes have just started randomly grabbing. I put the car in drive, it went about five feet, and the rear brakes grabbed. What the hell is that? Any ideas?

have you inspected the brakes to see if they are froze? im assuming drums?
i haven’t, but i don’t think that’s it. the brakes aren’t on, i drive a few feet, and then i feel them clamp. It feels like something is activating.
I haven’t pulled the goofy wheel covers off yet, but it has the DOHC motor and most other available options, so I’d imagine it has the Rear Disc/ABS package.
ebrake in the goofy spot were the light dont show but still grabs ?
i doubt it.
the thing feels completely unfettered for a few feet, and then it feels like someone is hitting the brakes, but only on the rear wheels. there’s no resistance whatsoever until it grabs.
Take wheel off fix the problem
Fixed for accuracy.
Can fucked up ABS do things like that? It’s not constant, so I don’t think it’s anything frozen.
could a wheel cylinder do this?
Does it do it after it has sat for a period of time ?
Wheel cylinder on the exploder went out on the back, It just puked fluid and was not grabbing
$10 fix
yes
From the great googler, said it’s normal till the abs reactivates :ugh:
what?
what?
link?
Take it with a grain of salt, it’s on the internet #8

you can have a collapsed brake hose where it will act like one way check valve. but doesn’t sound like it in your case. pull the wheels and take a peak at it. something may have fallen apart insde the brakes? lining came off shoe?
