Broken PS3 (Bad Blu-Ray Drive)

I have a broken PS3 at my house which I believe is a 60GB. It boots up fine, and you can do everything on it as a normal PS3. It will eject and feed discs in the slot but does not read them. I replaced the drive once and it didn’t work. This is one of the older fat PS3s.

I will confirm the size of the HDD when I get home, and snap some pics.

I’d like $60 for it since they go for more than that on eBay. Item is sold AS IS.

If a replacement drive didn’t work why do you think it’s the drive and not the board?

You replaced the whole drive, or just the laser?

It may be the board, I replaced it kinda quickly. I changed the whole drive with one a buddy sent me, so his drive may have been bad as well. Either way the drive does not read discs, but does power on, boots to the home screen, and works fine aside from the drive. If you want this for parts, shooting practice, magic porn box, it’s yours. If not …to ebay.

$40 is a great deal for parts if nothing else. I wasn’t shittin up thread…not that you thought I meant it that way anyhow but… :wink:

Yeah no problem, I know I can get $50-60 on ebay for parts. I’ll post pics later.

Regardless, not a bad price for something that works 3/4 of the way. I’ve seen those replacement “trays” that include the drive and laser run for $75. just have to have the right part number.

i had a backwards compatable ps3 stop reading discs. i sold it for 100$ pretty sure the guy put another laser in it. so 40$ is a steal

A local guy is selling parts cheap. You can swap the drive with one of the same models and then use your same board and be OK 9 times out of 10.

I’m going to list the sale still pending @ 40 to the person who PM’d me, unless someone wants to bump it up to $50.

If nothing else you can pop the drive and use it to store some porn or something.
