Budapest: What do you know???

Now my corn flake’s taste like piss.

Thanks asshole.

:roflpicard:

I spent 4 months in Budapest a couple of years ago. It was a great time. The nightlife was great. Nice weather (summer), good food, pretty cheap but i was making good money. People were friendly enough. Do u have specific questions?

DO IT

TRAVEL > *

I guess if you wanna answer some of the ones I had in post 17…

Also, what do you think it would be like as an English speaking person getting a job while im over there? I dont know Hungarian at all, nor do I plan on taking a class.

Even better is when you aren’t traveling for work.

definitely, and even if for work, totally worth it. do it now while ur young with no family

Eastern Europe was nothing like people said … I loved it

I thought I had answered those questions. I didn’t do any traveling from Budapest. All the traveling I’ve done through Europe has been by aircraft or train. No, unless you speak Hungarian, it would surprise me if u could get a job. There might be an opportunity through the school. Maybe if u speak German. I was able to communicate with a few people in German.

I don’t know the exact times to the other cities, I bought a 5 country pass, for the western Euro countries, because they are usually alot bigger, and cost more to get around. It was also significantly cheaper than the whole pass. The whole pass also has stipulations… either pass you still are more than likely going to have to “reserve” a seat on the train before boarding, which will cost between 1 and 15 USD. Bratislava was 3hrs on a very nice bus for $4USD, Vienna about 3.5 , Belgrade, 5hrs train, zagreb cr, and other balkan states are 3-6hrs away depending. It seemed like in general, people knew the very basic english, so getting by as a traveller wasn’t terrible, but I think it would be alot harder for deep conversation or a job. The language is supposed to be in the top hardest languages ever. I highly recommend getting out of the US anywhere for travel/work/study, and budapest is far less travelled than many other places. Like someone said on here, the countryside is beautiful. Do it!

Anyone who knocks Eastern Europe has probably never been there. I’ve never had a problem. Cities like Prague and Bucharest are amazing as is the Dalmation Coast.

On the Eurail pass, in my specific case it just wasn’t worth it. I guess if you plan on visiting many cities in a smaller region the limited pass may make sense to you. IDK

word

Anybody have any more information on Budapest???

I just got accepted to the University of Corvinus in the heart of Budapest today :). The sad part is, the school is known for its international excellence in the areas of Business and Economics, but im taking all electives that are not allowed to be Business or Economics for my major lol.

Yeah there will be gorgeous women everywhere ready to do anything and I mean anything for you to bring them back to the states.
Go man. You will have a great time. Those Hungarians are snky fucks but they are allright once you get to know them.

Shit man, I keep hearing this about these parts and a lot of the Czech area.

Pocket pickers in tourist areas and snky snky prostitutes in bars. Would it help to sound Canadian lmao?

No just tell them you are from New York and be prepared to answer questions about how you survived 9-11. People there associate New York with Manhattan they have no clue about New York state or the US in general. They think you live in a sky scraper and of course you are rich cause you are American y0.
Making friends should be easy. You will be surprised how many people will speak at least some English. You will find plenty of people at the school who will be fairly fluent and will be happy to make friends with you. You can use these people to show you around. Use your head and you will be fine.
In the meantime if i were you I would try to get in touch with people from your school who have done this particular study abroad and pick their brain. Ask all the questions you can think of. Maybe get a dictionary and try to pick up the language a little at least key phrases and shit.
