Budapest: What do you know???

based on true events

Fucked up shit happens everywhere dude. Part of life. I have been to Europe four times and never had any problems at all. Including Eastern countries.

truth

fucking idiot it was based on a trade done in southeast asia not taking place at a hostel. The movie was based in slovakia (which bratislava is a very beautiful city) but filmed parts in prague. Hostelling is the best thing I have ever done in my life.

On the otherhand, I’m glad the movie came out because it keeps ignoramouses out of hostels, so it is a win-win.

I have been thinking of doing a study abroad over in Europe too, but leaning more towards Italy… (helps for having a minor in Italian)

Budapest sounds incredible, you should have a good time dude! I think they have a Scarl Ibis over there if I am not mistaken

Hey, I know one and I’m 1/2 Hungarian, so he gets me free subway.

so he sneaks food from his work. so snky

Unfortunately, im doing the study through Oswego and I go to UB so its going to be hard to get in touch with any of those kids, but my friend and I are already trying to do this. Just picked up a used Hungarian Rosetta Stone set and I plan on devoting a little time to that this summer. I hear everyone knows English and its an International university so luckily, almost all of the courses are thought in English.

Thanks man, this is all such useful info. Now, getting 3 seasons worth of clothes an entire ocean away seems to be our hardest task yet lol.

This is what I keep hearing. Im so surprised up until my research of the area, I had never heard anything about this city, but EVERY SINGLE PERSON I have talked to who has been to the place only has the BEST things to say.

What did you like about it?

I ended up there kinda on accident(long story) so no planning or anything. Literally just stepped out of the airport and went. The people were very accommodating, I loved the city and architecture, and the night life was phenomenal. Basically we just raged for a few days and it was amazing. We ended up staying the last two nights there in some girls apt we met out and were hanging out with. We did not even get kidnapped once! It was a fantastic experience.

Haha, and its so sad being that this semester will be the last “blow off” semester I will ever have (im finishing up my remaining non Accounting or Economics electives) that this is what we made this choice based on lol.

I guess the country is just busting with life after having sufficient time to grow since being freed from communism. I hear its an epic party city at meager eastern block cost.

Yea dude the story is strange but I really ended up here trying to come home from Ireland and really didn’t have anything going on. Flight got canceled and a friend and I hit the town. We raged so hard we called the airline drunk as fuck and changed our flights and stayed four days. What a blast i had and it was very affordable. I really know nothing about their culture or anything since it wasn’t planned to go there, it just kinda happened. But like I said the people were great to us. I got drunk and had sex every night. Shit was on point. Go there and let us know your housing situation and ill come out haha. srsly

lols

Haha, is this for real or are you just shitting me.

I mean, I completely believe it but its just all to perfect for what I am going for lol. Are the girls… “clean???” lol.

Anybody have any recommendations for bars/clubs/sights???

Budapest is 2 cities, Buda, and Pest. Buda is slightly higher class, and on the north side of the danube, its hillier and has great views of the best parliment building I have ever seen. Theres also a castle or a church on that side to see too. On the Pest side, seems like where the bars and clubs were at, theres also a floating boat/barge that has huge parties on it. They call it like the beach or something, another big multi-room party area. There is a beautiful cathedral, and also a giant synagogue, definatly worth taking a tour, has a sad history. The “main” shopping / expensive street is cool to sightsee, saw some nice cars, they also have a museum of torture lol. At the end of that street is a really nice park with ponds and outdoor activities, saw Native Americans playing flutes there, had to do a double take on that one… Also, Budapest is known for bath houses, I think simialar to turkish style. That park I mentioned has one where all the younger crowd (college and party crowd goes) I didn’t find out about that til after I left, I went to one on the Buda side, and walked out cuz it was all old people staring at me as I walked in.

Also, they are ANAL about there public transportation system, it is very well setup , but one of the more expensive ones I’ve been to in Eastern Europe area, PAY for it! Someone warned me about it, I took a trolley like 100yds to the metro station w/o a ticket and my luck got caught, was about a 36 USD fine. Theres also great daytrips I’ve read about to the countryside and castles. Beer and food was decently cheap! It’ll be a great time! wish I could have spent more than 3 days there.

I am 100% serious. I really do not have any recommendations like I said it wasnt planned at all and we ended up there on accident really. Well we were supposed to pass through. But like I said we met these chicks and they showed us all around which I assume was the area and shit the dude above is talking about. The girls we were banging were like 6-7/10 but it was great to have someone to take us around. As far as clean idk I didn’t bring anything back so I guess so.

AAGGGHHHHH… thanks for the info guys, im so friggen excited!!!

4 months w00t w00t! Luckily I will be traveling to other European destinations every weekend but this city seems like a great way to pass my blow off school week.
