I have pushed cars and popped clutches plenty of times but…
My car is parked on top of a nice slope in my driveway but, it is facing the wrong way.:roflpicard: Can I put it in reverse and “bump” start it going backwards?:biglaugh::gotme::biglaugh: It seemes like it should work but…
Meh, I blew a tranny doing that. But this is a car that had possibly the weakest reverse EVER (mkIII vw jetta)
don’t do it!!!
the engine will start spinning backwards!!!
but what if it’s TURBO???
What if it has two turbos like mine? lol
OHHHH, well then you’re fine…
it’ll work. done it plenty of times in the Shadance.
LIES!!! the motor will spin backwards and suck air in through the exhuast and blow out the airbox and injector seals. DONT DO IT!!!
you guys do realize this is nyspeed people will believe you.
will work perfectly fine, just remember to check your muffler bearings after
the problem with reverse is it’s got a very steep ratio…
those muffler bearings 'll getcha
I’d give it a whirl. Put it in reverse, and modulate the clutch. Reverse gear will be pretty low, so dumping the clutch might bring the car to an abrupt stop.
truth, but i have done it on both a honda and my old jetta vr6 a few times… the vr we pushed down bidwell in the city lol
Done this more tiimes then i can remember in many different cars, no issues. Just don’t try and put it in reverse when you are already rolling backwards.
And we’ll leave it at that before the stupid people get a chance to fling anymore of their feces at this thread. One “turbos spinning backwards” joke would have been sufficient.
