This is BS. In fact, I think it would be better not to legislate that Muslims cannot wear garments that identify them as such, but instead they should require Muslims to wear something on their person that identifies them as Muslim. Perhaps a crescent moon burned into their forehead or something… That way we can all watch out for their scheming ways.

It should also be noted that they ONLY outlawed the burqa and niqab which are only 2 outa 7 different head coverings. The difference is that these are the most extreme and used by those who believe in sharia law, etc. “Modern” Muslims don’t wear that shit anyway so this only effects part of the Muslim population.

Anyway, Stanger I think an American should be able to wear a white hood if he wants. The government shouldn’t say a fucking thing about what we wear or don’t wear. Especially if it involves religious dress.

I think individual banks or stores or whatever should be able to privately say that people have to show their face so that the store, bank, post office, whatever, can provide proper security to the other patrons. Besides, show me one single crime that would have been prevented if a muslim woman wasn’t allowed to cover her face. This is just more xenophobic hate law crusading as security for the greater good.

The French are way more paranoid about their culture being taken over by outsiders than we are and have a long history of this.

Look up what they did when the word “email” was being used too much and they thought it was too “American.”

France has a unique “French” culture and they will do anything necessary in order to keep it from changing due to the melting pot effect.

The US is different, we have no “culture” but instead a mix of many different cultures, which is why we need to show equality towards all.

I completely agree with the French, I do not agree with the US adapting this law.

this is stupid. passing this law does mean it will be enforced. especially since women who wear burqas spend most of their time around people with the same beleifs, and those people can be found in clustered communities where they will stand up for eachothers right to practice their religion. its not worth talking about until someone gets a burqa ticket. which i presume will be never. an nyc cop gave a guy a ticket for wearing his pants to low, it went to court and the judge dismissed it. the burqa thing is just one degree further, and one degree more discriminatory toward a particular ethnic group.

Is there a law that states your pants need to be at or above a certain distance from your waist? As long as it was not entering indecent exposure area, why would he get a ticket…

It’s how extreme Islam tries to control lust and sex drives. Basically the women cover up 99% of their bodies so that no other dude can look at them and think about fuckin’ - It’s a “noble” thing for women to only want their husband to look at them “that way” and men like keeping that level of control over the women. Some view it as oppression of women, some as “noble.”
