So the whole concept does sound truly wrong to me, but, I do have a few friends who have bought puppies from the internet that turned out fine, so im thinking of giving it a try.
I would pick the pup up locally, but its a semi rare breed and I couldn’t track down a breeder within 200 miles.
So what im asking you is, has anyone on here done this before/how was your experience? Anything to look out for? Anybody have any listing sites they can recommend?
Came within an inch of buying a pair of sugar gliders online. Was going to drive to PA for pickup and to put the rest of the money down.
I think as long as you can see the dog/records before you put all the money down it’s alright.
Having them shipped is a different story. When places buy baby chicks to be shipped, they always include 5% more chicks because the probability of some dying on the way.
Their slogan was the best… “Delivering little bundles of love, in a box, directly to your door.”
In all seriousness, my boss got some exotic breed from some top breeder down south. The dog was sent via a commercial airline and he picked it up at the airport.
Aww d00d… Sugar Gliders are the shit! Why dint you get them???
And yeah, its for the girl before I leave. Shes wanted a dog for a while and I have always loved Toy Eskies . I figure they’re more a chickish dog than a guys dog so shell love him more than I will lol.
Hahah, I know I thought it was a joke when my friends told me they bought their dogs online… so do you know how your boss’s dog ended up working out health wise?
Yep, because they had to wait for the weather to be at least 50 degrees so the little guy wouldn’t freeze.
Health wise the dog is ok, but not great. He chews at his tail a lot if they don’t give him some anti-itch medicine from time to time. I guess it’s extremely common for the breed though. I just can’t think of what breed it is, other than it’s one of those hypo-allergenic dogs that has hair not fur (no shedding), so it has to go for regular groomings to keep it from looking like a mop.
Well I just got in touch with my friend who had hers shipped from Texas… She paid $250 for shipping. Thats steep but not terrible considering a pups life in hands lol.
^So you bought online and had them shipped or did you pick up?
I know Toys are AKC recognized but not by the UKC
I saw my first Eskie at the Akron Cruise Night a few years back (it was actually a Pomeranian-Eskimo mix) and have been in love since. The weird thing is, the owner I was talking to said her friends in Corning breaded them but I have had no such luck finding a breeder anywhere near here.
I would recommend picking up airport over shipping, we arranged that the dog would be given a mild sedative before the flight and was flown to us in a dog carrier
