California tax money @ work v. ricers...

CA is a liberal state that has taken an amazingly dumb stance on immigration. That really has nothing to do with them busting cars for illegal mods.

I think CA’s engine modding laws are stupid, along with their CA emissions, suing of the EPA over CO2 output, energy policies and a whole list of things I don’t feel like typing out. IMO CA is the most ass backwards state in the US. However… if you’re dumb enough to live there you don’t get to bitch when you break their stupid laws and get busted for it. Same goes for people that live in NY and bitch about getting tint tickets.

I guess what I was trying to get at…is it’s a Car ENTHUSIAST meet. it’s kinda slimey of the cops to show up and give everyone tickets. Granted they are allowed to do it,but don’t they have ANY thing better to do?
It’s like going into a muscle car show and writting everyone there for front plate tickets (because you know none of them have one on) or going to a harley meet and writting everyone for illegal exhaust.
I’m not trying to defend the legality issues…just the “morality” issue here if you will.
I don’t understand the mod laws in CA as well… It only does ANY good if cali’s surrounding states follow the same laws. It’s not like there is an air barrier around cali that doesn’t allow air in and out of the state.

^ umm yes there is its called the sierra nevada mountains.

hence all the smog stays in

omg, i actually agree with what jay has to say. +1. :awdrifter:

the problem with the first story is the quote. about the If you have a modified car you are a street racer. thats like saying you have a bong. you must be a drug user. or you have a gun you must be a murderer.

i love when financially troubled states spend money on “protecting people” like this.

he’s absolutely right… when I get pulled over and the cops says your car seems a bit low or your exhaust is too loud I usually respond with “you’re right, it is” and then try to get out of the ticket but its our own fault for putting the parts on the cars. The cops simply saw easy pray and made easy money… do I agree with it, no… is it legal, yes. there’s nothing we can do if they do that to us either and thats just the way it is.

i think what to cops did is a good thing. they made an example out of all the cars/guys.

if you want to mod a car and make 450 hp out of a honda civic hatchback, it belongs at the track anyways. if they stop all these guys and make them pay for it, you know they are going to tell all of their friends to lay low for a while and chill out. they made some money off it and probably got a clear message across to everyone out there doing stupid shit.

Bump

Twenty vehicles were impounded and towed – one found with a stolen engine and transmission, 14 for altered engine or transmission identification information, and four for drivers without a license.

There were four arrests at the scene, one each for drunk in public, resisting an officer, an outstanding felony warrant and one for exhibition of speed

Good in a way, but lame in others. Funny how CA has strict laws for modifying your car, but is the home to most automotive aftermarket companies in the world.

I believe about 5 years ago a smaller raid like this happened at Jimmy B’s on Transit Road for tuner night. Block the exits and check the cars. The cruise night died right there. A few violations given.

If they did something like that at a cruise night or show around here, I’d be pissed. First off, don’t go fucking pawing at my car. Scratch or dent it, I’d be very pissed. Plus I have gone through a ton of flaming hoops to make sure my car is as safe as it can be. Even though I’m exempt from a lot of the laws since it’s a 69. Plus if the cars are just sitting in a lot, then what harm is being done. If we are all doing burnouts and street racing, that’s another story.
