So I called 911 from my cell phone this morning and when I hit send the phone chimed and a display appeared that said something like “GPS starting”. About 5 minutes after I hung up the phone chimed again, I assume it was the GPS turning off. So naturally I removed the battery after that experience. :snky: j/k :tinfoilhat:
I just thought I would post incase anyone was wondering how it worked. I thought the GPS was always activated.:gotme:
The operator seemed to know instantly, exactly where I was. He asked if I was near Center street and I was right at the corner of Center Street. It is pretty sweet that the operator had the info that fast. Although maybe he was just guesstimating.
Yeah, I called a couple months ago to report the car on front of me that I watched drive off the road, across someone’s lawn, and then back up on the road only to continue to keep crossing the center line.
Once I told 911 where I was they transferred me to Amherst PD who had no idea where I was. This was with my iphone, showing exactly where I was on google maps.
Every time I’ve had to call 911 from my cellphone, they put me through to the Buffalo Police Department, even if I’m in Irving. Then I have to get transferred, and it takes a lot of time. Good thing it wasn’t a dire emergency and people weren’t dying and shit.
Actually there was a power line down across the road and yeah I drove right over it because I am old, I mean because it was raining like a mother and I didn’t see it until it was too late to stop.
