Cams: removal and replacement

During one of the many attempts to replace my cam seals last spring, I wanted to remove the cam cap at the front of the engine to make it easy to remove the old seal. However, even with both bolts removed, that cap would not budge. Do they use some kind of flange sealant on them to hold them in place?

I plan to replace the cams I damaged with my last seal replacement attempt, but this time I want the details up front. Assume I know nothing, because I have never replaced cams before. How do I remove the cam caps without fucking anything up? Rubber-jawed pliers? What kind of sealant do I use on the cam caps before replacing them? Should I check my bearing clearances or replace the bearings, or is that only really needed for rod bearings?

This is on a DOHC engine, BTW…

take the bolt u removed, rock it back and forth several times until it moves. DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER AND PRY IT. Although you can pry it lightly once there’s a small opening. Dont pry it when there’s no room./

Unblot all the the caps equally and in a pattern. (Criss Cross, X pattern couple turns at a time yadda yadda). The spring pressure should unseat the cams/caps. A gental tap with a small rubber hammer should take care of the rest.
