I need some help. I haven’t driven my car in 2 or 3 days because I’ve been sick. My dad’s been driving it. Today he was leaving around 5pm and when he started the car, he says my cutoff flickered (meaning the ballasts). He got to around Glenmont and the lights cut out on him.
I have a spare ballast that I tried (to no avail), but I don’t know if it works or not. I’ve had issues with my harness recently (back in September) and the guy that made it (he’s in MO though), rebuilt it (replaced the relays).
I’d like to know if someone can borrow me their ballast for a couple of minutes (we can meet at x-gates or something) so I can verify it’s not my ballasts. I’m pretty sure it’s my harness, but I need to be sure before I contact him again for obvious reasons. I know it’s not my bulbs because I don’t even hear the ballasts turn on.
Sounds like bad relay, Ground or loss of powa. Could be crossion in the relay. It happened on my civic. Turn your lights on and tap on the relay. It could be stuck.
I know. I’m pretty sure it’s the harness/relays but I just need to cover my bases and test other components to make sure so when I contact him I can tell him I did this this and this.
As far as the relay tap…tried that. I just don’t think he’d ‘warranty’ it again if I don’t have tangible proof that it’s not my ballasts.
He silicon’s the CRAP out of the relays, a good inch or two all around, so to tear it apart and fix it myself is out of the question.
I didn’t go back to this guy, but TheRetrofitSource.com sells harnesses for $30 (unlike the $80+ that I paid the other guy). I just got one from them. I had one from them 2 years ago that was crap, but over the course of 2 years, I hope they work better. We’ll see I guess.
