I bought a learner car like 10 years ago and just taught myself, $400 dodge neon.
Sticks are overrated
I’ve never driven a manual, but hope to learn soon. My mom has a car with a manual transmission, and she is going to teach me how to drive it this w/e.
That’s what she said.
How many people will actually say no on this forum? lol People have been commenting the past couple weeks about this topic and bashing those that cant. I think those that cant on this site will go into hiding. lol
i can, i do, but i mostly drive an Auto
So many people can’t now-a-days…
i taught (why does taught look so weird to me?) my best friend. she’s has owned 2 since. and a few of my friends who are girls have manuals too. i’m not saying i’m responsible for this, but i probably had a lot of influence, since i’ve been driving manual since i was 16. i just think it’s dumb to not know how to drive one.
There is no option for yes I can, but I hate it. My Vette is a 6-speed and it’s like using the self checkout at the grocery store… The novelty is fun for a few minutes and then it’s just more hassle than it’s worth doing it yourself.
if my car has paddles, does that mean i can drive manual ?
No.
Bought my Jetta which was manual when I didn’t know how drive them, my friend gave me 2-3 parking lot lessons and I was fine after that.
My Jetta and 325 where manual my last 2 cars have been auto unfortunately. As I told JayS when I put the save the manuals as my facebook profile pic the only reason I don’t have manual is simply put they are becoming impossible to get in new mid sized sedans.
The new 5 series and the current A6 are auto only. It is really sad.
its to complakated
I want to drive the seven speed 991. I’ll probably get a chance to when I go “back home” in May.
X…
I still can’t believe BMW doesn’t offer a manual in the 5 series anymore. When I heard that it was like the day I found out Santa wasn’t real.
^
wait, what? I don’t believe you! santa must real… err I mean I don’t want to live in a world without a manual 5 series.
I wish my touareg were manual. The auto does not drive efficiently, and it does not shift as quickly as it should in my opinion. I hate the fact that you cannot hold a gear if you are off roading, I hate the fact that it cuts power to shift, I hate the fact that it is ALMOST impossible to do a proper axis spin in my 6300lb truck because of this. hate hate hate… just in case anyone is interested 5th gear low range with the diffs locked at max power is the only way. If it were a manual I could stuff it in third dump the clutch and get it going for sure. The way it is not every time it shifts all 4 wheels come to a complete stop at every shift because of the way it is programmed so it makes this process very difficult to do in a confined space.
Manual > Auto
V10 touareg with like a 10 speed DSG would be amazing.
I would say yes, I can.
Scott, Geoff, and Paulo would critique my slow shifts though.
I’d be willing to be most people on here can drive a manual transmission, but a much smaller percentage can do it properly, and without destroying their clutch on a regular basis.
