I have this lens, its nice. GLWS
pardon my noobness but what would the primary function of this particular lens be?
fixed focal length (50mm) generally means better image quality. f/1.8 means wide aperture. that is a “fast” lens that can let in more light with an exposure. wide apertures will also have a shallow depth of field. that means that the out of focus areas will be very blurry. most of the time is is desirable depending on what you are after.
for the money, you cant do much better than this. it is basically the cheapest lens you can buy on a canon mount. the image quality is pretty fantastic considering the price.
THIS^^^
The 50mm prime is such a great lens.
Found this, worth the read.
ive had this one before (two separate times actually). The 50mm 1.8 STM is arriving in the mail on tuesday. well see which one is better.
The 1.8 is perfect for your starter on a budget or someone who just loves to take great photos
The 1.4 is great if you dont mind the price x 4
The 1.2 is baller status lol
To answer your question in a different and less technical manner… it’s great for portraits… terrible for anything long range that requires zoom and IS
Portraits will turn out great, but with some creativity you can get other great shots…examples of mine from the 50mm im selling
Are all canon mounts the same? I have a Rebel XS with just the 18-55 kit lens as of right now.
Im almost positive that the rebel and my 60D have the same mounts. They only change when you jump Into more expensive cameras. Like full frame. If you want to meet up and see if it fits let me know
if it says EF, you can use it on anything. if it is EFS, you can only use on crop sensors (Txi, 60D, 70D etc)
Love my nifty fifty
Yea, its truly a great lens
Good price. The plastic fantastic is probably the best lens for the money out there.
