Car no go

Took the car out for a spin today, seemed like the tranny was slipping a little, got 20 yards up the road and it felt like the engine was free revving. Drifted back down the hill (and got stuck in the neighbors driveway :kekegay:) - nothing, no drive no reverse. Fluid level looks good.

Ideas? Converter problem? Converter bolts fell out (loc tited them though)? Tranny shot? Trade it in on a minivan?

give up and buy a harley

Check the driveshaft

I had a similar issue when I put a bigger turbo/injectors and new converter in my Buick.

One of two things happened, crank walked or converter balloned. Either way it took out the front pump bushing and she no go…

I had the pump replaced when it got damaged during the tranny install. Maybe there was more damage than just the pump.

Thanks Quik, just add to my already unstable mind today. Oh well, at least it idles now.

wow, that sucks, need me to cum look at it?

Sounds like the converter took a shit to me. That’s basically what happened when my stock converter finally took a shit.

trade for a nissan? straight up.

lol

Sorry to hear man,.

Hmm…converter, input shaft, pump, trans filter, valve body, bands, output shaft, driveshaft, rear end, axles. It’s gotta be one of these items, and it’s probably dealing with converter or pump not working properly.

Unless you put a 3.5" 10K stall rated converter in, then it might act like that?

Do you happen to have a gauge for checking the line pressure? Or maybe what else I can check? Anything info that the scanner can provide that might be useful?

Might have to give Hodge a call to see if I should pull it and take it down there.

wow jeff thats a bummer. How long has it been off the road for?

hows the fluid? what trans temp are you seeing? sounds like that trans is done for

no i do not.take off upper trans line & put in big jar bucket or something like that just to see if it pumping

sounds like what happened to my car when the pump in the transmission fell into pieces! then after a short period of time u could hear the converter spinning inside.

Like a year and a half.

Fluid level is good and color is good. Only has about a half mile on it.

Hope it’s not rebuild time. :x:

I’m still hoping it’s something with the pump, although it was replaced after I messed it up bolting up the trans. Might be something else that I damaged too.

Hooked a gauge up and there’s zero line pressure. Guess the pump is bad. I just had the pumped replaced a half mile ago when it got damaged, wonder why it went bad. Someone recommended checking the runout on the converter hub since that can wipe out the pump.

yup ,u should, & sorry to here
