My moms van died on me.... transmission issues, 03 chevy venture/pontiac montana

So i was driving my moms sweet van the other day to work, and on my way home the transmission went (well, started to go)

On the way home, (Galleria Mall to Gasport…) it was jerking a lot from a dead stop, but at highway i didnt notice a problem. When i got off, and into stop and go through the city of lockport, it was slipping and i couldnt go anywhere. So i turned teh car off, put it in park for ~2 minutes, turned it back on and put it back in drive and the shifted/moved perfect for about 5 miles, then it started to do the same thing again. rpms would go wherever my foot told them to go, but the car wasnt responding w/ speed.

So i did the same thing, parked it, turned it off, and tried it again. Everything works for a couple miles. Then the Check engine light came on, revs went up and it felt like the car was stuck in 2nd (or 3rd?) at ~4krpms at 50mph. It didnt sound pretty, but i was able to make it home. Also, in this ‘limp’ mode, the van responded perfectly to the throttle position.

My question: What should I look at being the issue? Ive never dealt with an auto transmission so idk what it could be, other than ‘broken’ lol.

what makes you think it’s the lines? any major leaks? hows the level? (check in park with engine running)

i have no idea what it is, but theres no leaks. Fluid is exactly where it should be on the stick w/ the car in park with the engine running (and off?). Theres no leaks at all under the car either. I also just drove it today (happened last night) but it did the same thing, and it does the same for forward and reverse gears. doesnt matter where i put the shift lever the car doesnt respond differently (except neutral let me push the pos a lil bit, until i parked it for a few minutes and turned it back on, and drove it home the rest of the 1/8th mile)

dump a qt of lucas stop slip in it, and go drive it it around til its fully cycled. you’d be surprised how good that shit is for an auto transmission.
I’ve watched it completely fix vehicles that wouldnt even move in forward gears.

you might be looking at a soft rebuild, possibly a torque converter but thatseems unlikely if you can shut it off and its fine for a while again

Well i was doing some reading last night, and they seem to use the same transmissions as the Pontiac/chevy v6 cars/what not, but what about the pump possibly going?

Threw that in it just now, and no change in symptom.

Car will drive perfect for about 1-2 minutes after letting it sit for 1 minute. After the 1-2 minutes of perfect driving the car will not “shift” into any gear and just sits there revving.

Also, for what its worth, the passenger window all of a sudden wont go up…it goes down, but not up? wtf…
