Wax would be fine as long is it’s a high-end wax that is breathable. If your paint can’t breath, that’s not good.
I’m pretty sure the one I use from AutoGeek.net (Optimum Car Wax) would do what you need to do.
LOL, overspray isn’t from the original/new paintjob, noobsauce. It’s from when you paint something, the haze of paint in the air settles on an object, creating “over spray”. Which was on my car from the engine bay getting sprayed over the winter and me not washing the car immediately after. :lol

I wouldnt full blown detail the car for like a good 6 months after new paint. wash it urself or touchless carwash.
