Car project,what would it be?

I’d want to build something completely out of scratch. as of recently a lot of interest has shown up in converting the older saab motors to rwd drivetrains. using I think it was a vauxhall or opel bellhousing the motor can be mated to a t5 transmission, and many people have been using holset turbos in place of the smaller garrett t25 turbos that came on them. in a <2500 lb car the torque that i’ve seen these motors make would be a ball.

Personally at the top of my list would be a 69 camaro with 600hp+ LSx & T56 with upgraded suspension. I’d have it look something like this…

Or maybe a Early 70s GTO with same LSX drivetrain noted above looking something like this…

looks sick!!

I’d love to get a CTS-V for DD, my STS is getting into the problem miles

If my big block blows up, that’s what I’m heading towards.

Already thinking of a repaint with possibly different color scheme in 4 or 5 years and some more mods.

I will punch you in the gonads :spank:

Have you seen what a 3000 goes for these days? It is truly disgusting. And to think my dad had 3 of them at one time and one of them was the super super super rare one that did not have the 2 back jump seats, the rear shroud came right up to the backs of the front(only) seats

i think i would do a 97-99 gsx eclipse.
2.3 stroker kit
gt950r turbo kit from AMS.
kw v3 coilovers.
stoptech big brake kit.
carbon hood, hatch, fender, doors, and bumber (painted the same color to match the car) keep it looking stock!
full roll cage with driver and passenger seats only in car.

E30 with some sort of rare nissan engine.

VW with a Subaru powertrain

I was really surprised at the amount they are selling for now. I went to the Barrett Jackson auction a couple of years ago and met an attorney from Boston that paid top dollar for one. I wish my dad would have kept his also.

Well, it’s really only the professional/frame off/restored 3000’s that are going for over $50k. Though the average price on them has jumped about $12k-$18k in the past 6 years, which is nothing to sneer at. My father has a '66 which I absolutely love to tool around in when I get the chance.

I would love to cram a couple GT30r’s into a 355 Berlinetta.

A factory five racing GTM supercar would be a nice project to undertake.

Or a murdered out old school twin turbo mob car.

I have no idea why I have even considered this for I know the platform is horrible, and from a performance standpoint the car is downright boring…but there’s this small part of me that wants to clean up my SHO.

It’s currently incredibly solid from a chassis/metal standpoint…just needs a nice, smooth paint job. Would also go through and update all the bushing and rubber components that are worn from the 235K that they have…bump up to 13" front rotors…powdercoat/paint up the engine bay…shit like that.

This would all be practice for the more serious endeavor of building the Mustang into the type of car I’ve always wanted: turbo 302/T56/IRS fully streetable 10 second-ish and 100% road-tripable.

And…there’s still my dream to build this car:) A design I created while in college. The simplified approach would be to build it over the top of a Factory Five GTM supercar chassis with and LSX drivetrain.
