Car restoration

Picked up that 69 mustang off of here. Finally got it home and needs a decent amount of work. I need a place to get the chrome redone. Also looking for options on paint. Car had a backyard job prob 10 years ago. Looks decent from 5 feet away but I don’t like red anyways. Want to go blue come next spring. Curious what you guys recommend or suggest.

Andy at Zeon’s in Lockport for any body or paint work.

Any blasting or powdercoating, great lakes media blasting in Lockport. Derek and Debbie are legit car people there.

I had chrome plating done at tripp plating in buffalo. It was $$$.

Most of the chrome you can buy new. MAC’s Antique Auto in Lockport has a massive inventory of vintage Ford parts if you want to browse and see the quality. A lot of the repop stuff has come up 10000% in quality since the early 2000s but for stuff like sheetmetal, rust-free OEM is still king. http://forums.vintage-mustang.com is still a great resource too.

^^^and Mac’s Antiques is within a 1/4 mile of Zeon’s so you can check out both on the same trip.

BTW, Andy has some experience with these cars.

This one had extensive body repair, all new quarters, inner structure, etc.

Car is actually rust free. With exception of a little area by the driver door. Even the underside is clean. Might be a different story once it’s stripped and getting painted but won’t know till then. I had called Tripp and nearly fell over. Thx for the other suggestions guys. This is a whole new ball game for me. But I am enjoying it so far.

Here are some from the underside. If it looks like this i cant imagine the body being took bad.

Doesn’t look too bad, but you won’t know until you blast it. Undercoating hides many sins.

You’d be surprised what’s hidden under paint/filler lol. Taking a car down to bare metal is a pain in the ass!

Just realized I see you on the VMF facebook page, haha. Saw your images of the notch down at the waterfront. That red cleans up nicely.

Are you sick of the thumbs-up yet?

The paint is meh. I can’t wait to get rid of the red. All I’ve done is a wash and spray wax. Might give it a buff then hand wax. I am actually. But at the same time it puts a huge smile on my face. I’ll be headed over to Macs in a couple weeks after I get back from vacation. Will be nice to replace a lot of the little things that are really warn or broke.
