Hey, I have a problem with my car shutting down randomly…its a s13 with a s14 kade. The car shuts randomly (not all the time) when im slowing down. It dies slowly (like im running out of fuel?). Its defenitly not a battery problem. All lights, etc work. When I crank the car that works fine but the car just won’t start. But again, it would be able to start up again after a bunch of tries.

Man, it seems like everyone has been having this problem lately? Is it ussually when you engage the clutch and let the revs drop down to idle?
^^ Had the same problem with my KA a while ago.
All i did was unload a full can of carb cleaner into my IACV hose ( On the stock intake, by the throttle body, the thicker one of the 2) had someone sit in the car and rev it. Repeated this a couple times and after driving it around each time my problem disappeared…
Or you can remove your IACV clean it/get a new one…

Also a update on the symptoms…again it happens randomly. As in today, i was driving along and the car died “slowy”. I tried downshift rev matching whatever i could do but no fuel, nothing, was delivered when i pressed on the gas. Instead the car just engine braked, but more like “half” engine brake, “half” dieing slowly.
Then after all that the car will turn back on after the a couple or alot more tries when cranking. Then will drive fine…then of course again the random shut downs.

more updates, i drove the car today for about 10 mins. No shutting off this time but…(its random). But when i went to turn the car on when i was going to first leave it didnt want to start. Heres something weird when i went to crank it, it wouldn’t start just crank, but once i stopped, the car half turned on/sputtered/died, like there was not enough fuel.
But then i cranked it again, got the same symptoms, but this seemed to work to get the car on. 1.crank 2.stop. 3. crank again, then the car would start. Thats all in a matter of seconds done there.
And while driving i smell a faint hint of fuel, more so when the car shuts down and i try to turn it on.
^edit that last post, regarding the fuel smell, i dont know it could just be my exhaust.
i had an identical problem before… it was just a loose connection in a wiring harness and the motion of slowing down was enough to break the connection and the ignition would cut out…
hense maybe thats why u smell fuel cuz ur ignition is cutting out so u smell the raw gas…

Also like I said its random…and if the car was driving fine, i park it and come back to it after it “was” driving fine, sometimes the car problem would arise, (starting) even tho the car was not moving?
again another update…and once again this stuff is random. The car can drive normal one time then the next, shit.
Anyways, sometimes when go to drive the car, put it in gear…the car will idle “ok”, kinda low i think, but once i go to press the gas the car will sputter and die???
update once again…the car won’t even start now. It only cranks, nothing else. I’ll upload a vid and see if it helps.
But since the car only cranks now, can you guys narrow it down more?

here is the vid…nothing to it, but if you listen carefully, i don’t know if it helps or not, but after I stop cranking the engine “trys” to start, but it can’t.
btw i went to go try it again and after the cranking the smell of fuel is really strong.
