Car Starter Going Bezerk

My boss has a 02 or 03 GTP, honestly I have no clue.

Well he’s had a remote starter on it for almost 2 years now, and last month he had a new battery and alternator put it.

Now when he goes to use his remote starter, the car starts and then shuts off after 2-3 seconds. Then it starts back up and then dies. And continues the process of starting back up, running for a second and then dying.

When he starts the car manually (key in ignition) the car starts, runs and drives fine. Its just that the starter isn’t keeping the car started.

Any ideas? I’m thinking bad ground, or its shorting out somewhere.

This is a remote starter problem, correct? And not an electrical problem that lies within the grand prix?

:gotme:

he probably got some POS remote starter installed for 80 bucks on special from circuit city. If the car starts and runs with the key in inigtion, just get a new remote starter.

that said, remote starters are for fucking pussies.

It just needs a new bypass module, the start & stall would be his GM Passkey cutting fuel.

Google Passkey III

Or better yet, go to rainbow, im sure they can do it for Him.

yea that bypass module must of failed

yep its the gay gm bypass…

you will never get a remote starter installed for 80 bucks at circuit city. ever lol

edit- sorry, the first link used to be a list/database. but You get the idea

Just needs Tach reprogrammed …

elise’s are for pussies

smart start ftmfw

You dont have to buy a new remote starter, or bypass module like stated above. Removing the battery in a car will delete the memory in the remote starter and/or the security bypass modules on some systems, it depends what products were use.

Is the security light coming on in the instrument cluster? If thats the case, then the PK3 bypass needs to be relearned (assuming its not a key in the box bypass).

If thats not the case, the engine sensing needs to be re-programed…be it voltage sense or tach sensing. The car wont start correctly if it doesnt have anything to monitor.

it might be voltage sensing tho… oh but thats right most units default to “tach” so then i guess it wouldn’t know whats going on haha… good call bdr

any idea what kind of starter it is or who installed it?
