Chads S14 Build

Im a fan!

Thats a cool idea, i don’t have any signals on this car but maybe i’ll do something like that for my Genesis.

thats a nice hockey stick.

cars decent too

Wow! Looks awesome dude!

what are you doing about the wheels not fitting in the fenders? serious question, not some smartass shit.

The wheels do fit the car just needs an alignment , I’ll get pics soon.

I took some time while breaking down the chassis harness, to make a few block off plates and a switch panel tucked inside the arm rest. I think nothing in the cockpit is so clean.

Still need to remove the ignition and clean the inside out before I paint all the white parts again.

I also finally got around to patching my passenger side rocker which needed a little TLC. Cut the rust off and bent these patches out of 16g, but after a few quick tacks we just decided to replace the entire section on both sides.

My neighbor helped make some tabs for my license plate

The fuel cell is not sitting level in the picture because there was a box underneath from earlier, but the straps were done and I just needed to get some threaded rod to tie them down and add a new jack point.

Om nom nom. Diggin’ this build.

Must be nice, my neighbors help me out by calling bylaw when I try to work on my car like that, lol.

Car looks amazing, hope to see it out this year

Thanks man, yah I’m usually visited by them daily.

What can they really do though? You’re welding it in your driveway. As long as it’s not excessive noise after 11pm they can’t really say shit. Can they…?

techniquly your not aloud to work on your own vehicle, its stupid, a bylaw will never really ticket you for it but its just what ive heard,

Very true, a buddy of mine got warned before

its so stupid, it makes u wonder why we have so meny part stores out there to buy parts to do little maintenance on your own vehicle but were not aloud to work on our own cars, smh,

I think it’s more about deterring people operating shops out of their house garage and making money that way.
Thinking along the lines of :

  • Residential houses aren’t meant/equipped with the same electrical/HVAC/physical space/security limitations of a commercial/industrial shop
  • annnnddd the fact of a residential area having to put up with loud noises, fumes, spills, stains, and additional strangers to the neighbourhood.
Logically that’s what I would think of first.
What if the guy across the street and two houses down on the left was operating a shop out of his garage?
What if he turned out to be sketchy? and had a sketchy client base?
And, if you want nothing to do with him or his customers but they see your car every time they pass or whatever.
that’s what I could think of anyways.

I’ve worked on a buddy’s engine swap until like 2AM in my garage before, loud noises and banging, and I live in a house with attached neighbours on both sides with no complaints. I find the trick is just be friendly and explain what you’re doing (any maybe even why if they’re curious) and to ask if there’s anything we’re doing that is bothering them.

U do make a point “backyard mechanics as their called” my neighbour used to do that and he got in big shit but there’s a difference in seeing different cars everyday and having the same one there every day looking like a race car Oh well it’s a sick build!

definitely man, I was just trying to think of why a bylaw like that would exist.
either way, we should all be fine, even if our garages look like chop shops at times haha.

yea in richmond hill i got in shit for not having plates on my parts cars and stuff a couple times had one neighbour who complained a lot. Thats why i have a collection of ontario plates i just used to put on them.

im pretty sure aslong as the car is on your property and not on the road infront of your house u DONT need plates for it, like its your property why would u have to? but then again southern ontario is stupid with their laws now adays, id say a bylaw would have to be extremely bored to actually come and harass you about working in your own garage, hes prolly just curious with how the build is coming and he has no better way to approach you and ask xD smh
