Chain Link Fence

Putting in a chain link fence. Where else can I buy everything besides HD and Lowes?

http://www.cityfence.com/Chain-Link-Fencing.aspx

Never used them but see their signs a lot in my neighborhood.

PM @lghtemup he should be able to steer you into the right direction.

If you do buy it from Lowes, I recommend talking to Misterioman about Lowes gift cards. Saved me a few hundred dollars on the deck I just built.

I sent lghtemup a PM.

Bobby ill see what he has.
@misteroman clear your pm box.

Lowes has the 10% code online now and $10 off $50. Combine that with the 10% gift card you will get from the other guy  The $10 off can’t combine with the 10% code though.

Shoulda bought a book titled “How to Build A Deck”.

Got end posts and line posts last night. Setting the posts down 4ft. Sunday ill get those in and let the the concrete set up for a day or two.

Fence layout-
75’ across the back yard plus a 5’ gate (80’ total)
10’ across the side of the house plus a 5’ gate (15’ total)

Material-
4’ Chain link fabric
8 End post
6 Line post
9 or 10 Top rails to be safe.
5’ Gate back
5’ Gate front
Concrete
Plus tension bars, top eyes, rail ends, caps, tension bands, blah blah blah.
Digging the holes with a Skid Steer. My brother has one so thats free.

I had 3 estimates to have it done and all were $1900-$2100. I stopped by city fence for pricing on just materials. They wanted $1500 for galvanized and $1900 for black hahah no thanks.

So where did you end up going for the materials?

If you have the space, put a gate in big enough to get a vehicle through. So many times I’ve been working on my backyard wishing I could have driven the SUV out there to unload.

Got the posts at Homedepot $290, top post will be another $100, concrete another $100, fabric another $100. I already had a 4’ gate. Plus an other $100-$150 on accessories. I budgeted $800-$900.

I have trees on the side of my house so a car would not fit. 5ft gate will be big enough for my lawn mower.

I think my project is going to be a wood fence for next summer, if I’m still in my house then. I need to pull out the old chain fence that is in my yard now. I think I might put an ad up on CL when that time comes to see if someone wants that scrap fencing…

I scrapped the chain link and posts that I removed from my house and got about $75 if I recall. 9 or 10 posts and 50+ feet of fence.

Scratch that. Got a 10ft kit instead. 2 5’ gates, 1 in front, 1 in back.

Plan was to do the posts yesterday but had a little technical issue. In the morning I picked up the cement mixer and met up at my brothers. On the way out to my house a bearing let go on the trailer. We pull over and come to a stop and the wheel fell off with what was left of the bearing. Its not fun sitting on the side of the road trying to figure out what to do with 10,000+lbs of equipment on a 3,400lbs trailer with only 3 wheels. After a few hours of grabbing another trailer and limping back to my bros we called it a day.

About that time did you start thinking maybe $1900 installed was a good deal?

Wait a week or spend $1900, I’ll wait.

Got the posts in on Saturday. Started around 7:30 Saturday morning and finish a little after 3. With my bro’s trailer still down I picked up a hydraulic post hole digger from tri-county in EA. We do a lot of work for them so I didn’t have to pay any rental fee’s. My old man and I got to work and put in 10 posts in the back yard and 2 up on the side of the house. We changed things around so I didn’t use as many posts as I had planned. Dug the holes down 3ft and pounded the posts down another 1/2ft-1ft. Set the posts level and poured in the concrete.

We also had a extra set of paws helping out. Picked this little guy up 3 weeks ago from pet connections. Lab/Shepard/Mastiff mix, just turned 9 months old and already 82lbs. We also have another dog and they are the main reason the fence is going up.

I completely forgot to update this. I finished up the fence back in June. In all it cost little over $800. Besides the poles I did everything else myself. Took about 5 hours to get the chain link up and stretched. Wasn’t as hard as I expected. The only mistake or issue I had was not being able to get the end post close enough to my neighbors wood fence so I had to fill in the gap.

nice… where does that bridge go to? it is more land or a park?

Its a big open field with the buffalo creek on the other side. The guy who owns it has horses. My property ends about 20 feet past the bridge.
