changing a bulb behind the gauge cluster

Wow… the ideal thread! I can’t believe I never saw this before. How many bulbs would I need and is it difficult (if at all possible) to change ALL the interior lights? (excluding the little map lights up top) By this I mean, the dash backlight, the centre console backlight and the green little light LED’s (are they even LED’s?) on the hvac and such. I’m thinking of going with red backlight for everything, and theorize that it’ll look sweet-arse. That ultra white looks pretty PIMP too thou… Decisions decisions

yeah, on the s14, its the same deal to get it out, although i don’t have to drop the steering column anymore, just gotta play with the trim around the cluster VERY CAREFULLY so u don’t break it. Or u can drop the column, 2 bolts hold it in, not very difficult, but your back may get sore. i may be missing some clips on the cluster trim, cause it comees out fairly easily, if you’ve never pulled the cluster before, u may wanna drop the column just to be on the safe side. shouldn’t take longer than an hour.

u need 3 bulbs (s14 model) to replace all the lights on the cluster. i used 2 reds on the outside, one blue on the inside, for a very nice ricer affect. i had the whites before, but they burned out on me. by coincidence, my cd player displays in red and blue, so its a pretty cool affect.

regarding the climate control lights and uch, i actually took it upon myself to try and solder some red LED bulbs on the circuit board for the climate control (i had a spare). if i remember correctly, there were 3 bulbs on that board. had it all soldered nicely, looked like the connection were right, plugged it in, and in fact, the red lights did illuminate, but shortly after it was followed by a puff of smoke and a small flame. melted the board, lucky i didn’t fry my ECU, so to answer your question, you may wanna send the board to someone who knows what they are doing, unless u do!!

oh, and if u figure itout, post in this forum. i think if i were to do it next time, i’d pop the bulbs out and send them to the shop that sells leds and ask them to match the voltage (or try and get an answer from nissan, i had no luck).

Hmmmm… I’ll give it a shot, I don’t know much about cars, but I’ve done a lot of electronics and fooling around with circuit boards. Unfortunately it’s not really high on my to-do list what with midterms and all, but I will post it if I get it working.

i need to post a pic of my new tach its SICCCCKKKKK

and i put red lights in my dash so they match

So who is up for a dash light swapping meet>?

If the bulbs are cheap, ME!!!
