I’ve seen this a few times in this thread, but I’m not 100% sure this is correct. For Example Mark Carlyle’s Vette runs well into the 6’s and has swing-outs.

Vitez is a good guy and does awesome work in my opinion, but it’s not his main income. I do remember it being tricky to get him to nail down a time to quote it. He did my car, and a friend’s both in the time promised.

My current helmet is 1 year old. Anyone want to tell me harnesses have dates next? Or that I need an sfi balancer? or an engine diaper? or you cant have removable door bars faster then 8.5? Or that I need 25.5 if I ever go over 180mph? or fire supression? Or where the bar needs to pass from the hoop to floor? Or that from the hoop to the rear has to be over 30*? Or that on non unibody cars it should be welded to the frame? Or that the plate should be 6x6" on unibody cars?

I would have to believe you must be trolling at this point but my point was that this isn’t the first time I have glanced over rules for drag racing not that I had an 11 year old helmet. Joelster if you want to “help” find me a good deal on a cage. That is what this thread is for.

Also my builds clearly demonstrate I have plenty of knowledge so sorry I don’t always listen to some guy on the internet questioning the way I go about something. The guys on here I respect turbociv,foureyed,dpmirpoc, etc I listen to and consult 100%

Maybe my post came across wrong, I apologize. I was basing the safety stuff around the fact that you ran out the backdoor at 144mph, without any of the 8 or so specific needed things at that mph. As a guy reading the thread I just assumed that you didn’t know ALL of the things needed, because that could get you banned from a track for a stunt like that. Then you come in here and say you know the rules inside and out, like i’m an idiot for even questioning it. If you were to post something like this on a national site like Yellowbullet, it would be at page 20 by now. Again, i’m not here to tell you what to do, I was just trying to help, that’s all. I’d still say to take it to a shop that will certify it, that will save you a potential headache down the road.

take this car to a HPDE at the glen as it sits today… it would be hillarious to see the gorpro footage of you blowing the doors off 996tt and gt3s, coast the turns a bit and then continue… that’s worth the 300-500 for a two day event

Wow. Vitez was way less expensive than that. Only reason I was considering someone else is I’m pretty sure after he did my car he said he’d never do one like it again haha. The dash bar and getting the verticals through the dash had to be a pain in the ass. Mine fit real right and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

:tup: I talked to Marvin this morning and he assures me you are just trying to help out. Again it wasn’t that I know all the rules etc its that this thread was to discuss chassis fab. I use the bullet sticky for safety tech q’s mostly. Been on there for years. Anyhow im over it and trust me i 100% do not want to do this job unless im not comfortable with the quality/price locally.
