im looking @ getting a welder to mess around with and teach myself how to weld over winter… i just wanna fab up some stainless steel resevoir boxes for my car… and teach myself how to weld
so i started to hitup ebay and found some tig welders for around 300-500 bux
so whats wrong with them? will they work for the simple stuff i wanna do with em the only other thing i may need to do would be weld up some intercooler pipes and other stupid small projects
Well that is gonna cost you a bit more than $500, because the welder is $595.00, TIG torch is $127.50, gas regulator is $45.00, and you need a bottle of Argon which is around $75-$100 locally at a place like Rodgers welding supply.
Bad parts about this machine include:
Lift Arc only - NO HI-freq start
NO remote amperage control, ie foot pedal
This is what I would recommend for a low cost, high quality TIG machine with everything you need to weld steel and stainless (NO Aluminum)
I would def recomend Miller… their welders are great quality… Dont cheap out on welders… because often… cheap welders are harder to use than good ones and you’ll get frustrated at that fact.
