If you’re looking for a fun weekend getaway and have $1000 to work with, fly somewhere. There’s nothing like the excitement of catching a flight, feeling the plane take off into the sky, etc to feel like you’re really going somewhere. Even if it’s not far.
Hell go to Boston. <$100/ticket, great public transportation so you don’t need a car when you get there. Walk Burberry street so she can look at the shops and you can look at the cars. You could probably stay in right in the financial district for $300 for two nights. That leaves you $400-$500 for food and activities.
The last time I was at the flats it was ghetto as fuck. This was in 2004. Most of the restaurants were closed and most of the people hanging out at the bars were thugs. If it has changed since then awesome.
For that kind of money I would fly. So many cheap deals going on with jetblue and air tran etc. I just drove to Indy this weekend and spent less than 500. The bitch part is that it was 8 hours and while I like driving somewhere it really cuts into your time to do stuff.
Fly to Atlanta. Go hang out in little five points, eat tator tots and drink PBR. Good times.
Flats are done in Cleveland…been done for like 6+ years now. Cleve is a great getaway, but I would up the ante given your price range and fly somewhere.
I’m hitting up Mardi Gras next week. Got my ticket for ~$200. I’m visiting a set of DD’s so no idea what hotels will cost down there, but in previous visits to NOLA it’s impossible to not have fun down there. Worth checking out.
Like others have said…Boston would have been my other recommendations.
for a grand, i went to st petersburg, got a awesome hotel on the beach for 6 days, round trip airfare for 2 people, a rental car, and two tickets to disney world
Meh, I feel that this is a cop-out for really “getting away”. Perfect for guys who don’t want to travel far and have wifes/gf’s who are willing to accept this shit as a “getaway”.
