I love the idea of a small, cheap, RWD turbo muscle coupe… but like the 1 Series, the proportions are just wrong. It looks like a toy car blown up to 1:1 scale.
All these new cars look like cars that are already on the market ha, they should call it the chevy 1 series
Yes… People are making over 360whp 400+tq on the stock K04 turbo. I swapped mine with a BW EFR 6758 @26psi and the completely stock motor is holding strong :tup: knock on wood…

But I do give GM credit for calling it a mini “muscle” car instead of a sports car, because it will end up overweight with poor handling.
I hadn’t thought of this, but it’s probably true and now this makes a lot more sense to me. I’m still excited to see how it turns out.
I am actually pleasantly surprised that they worked on the weight of the new ATS to come in around 3,400. Granted that is still not skinny but better than I expected and lighter than the competition.

Not to be confused with a GM sympathizer but 3,400 is pretty low considering it’s mark. I’d say that’s quite a step in the right direction for GM.
On topic though, I have hope for this RWD “mini” muscle car… although I’m always disappointed as I’m an optimist when it comes to the big three revival lol.
For the record, my GP is 3400 pounds and 260hp. This thing is gonna be a dog then.

Ooof… I was hoping for something more Civic like, in the <3000lb range. Even a fully loaded EX-L with nav Civic is just 2795lbs. Reports have put the weight of Toyota’s new FT-86 at 2,425 lbs, and that would be the main competitor to this thing if GM decides to bring it to market. I have officially lost all interest in it.

If the LHU/LDK (a derivation of the cobalt ss turbo motor) is used in a performance variant like in the Regal GS, I think it has a lot of potential.
150hp? My beater daily Neon has that and it’s way lighter.
