But he’s on Main St. in Williamsville.
Don’t listen to anyone here who discounts chiropractic treatment. They’re just not up to date on the facts. 20 years ago, people didn’t respect the practice just like they didn’t respect “shrinks.” But any skepticism in the medical community about the validity of treatment actually helping was dispelled a long time ago. Do your own research and make your own, educated decision.
Results depend on the type of pain you have. To explain this as simple as possible, Your CNS (central nervous system) runs right down your spine - if things don’t line up correctly back there you’ll feel pain in parts of your body that you probably wouldn’t associate with your back. You could have pain in your hands, headaches, etc. and they could all be caused by misalignment. You don’t just go to a chiropractor for “back pain.” It doesn’t take an MD to figure this out - it’s basic human biology.
If you are having back pain, you need to identify if you just pulled a muscle (maybe you lifted something heavy the wrong way) or if you mis-aligned your back. Both can be done very easy and unintentionally. A good chiropractor should be able to tell you. You can mis-align your back just by sleeping or walking.
A good chiropractor also isn’t just going to throw you on a table, give you some squeezes and say “you’re all fixed!” He or she will X-Ray your back and show you the results, pointing out to you exactly where your spine is out-o-whack. And you don’t need a PHD to see this in an X-Ray either.
Since most people just live with the pain, their body and back are used to being in that out-o-whack position. So it takes more than one visit to “train” the back to it’s correct position. (again, I’m simplifying.) After several visits, some people are able to identify exactly when their back is out now that they are used to not having pain. Since you don’t need a referral to see a chiropractor, if you feel that you mis-aligned something, you can just call up and stop in.
That’s as general as I can get. Just do not expect to go once and solve the problem for the reasons I’ve said above.
