Ineed a pain specialist

I chipped a peice of my spine a while ago, and i have a ton of scar tissue surrounding that area of my spine. I’m looking for a pain and or a back specialist that someone can recommend.

PS it fucking hurts. so hurry up.

yeah i have went to a ton of doctors for my 6 ruptured disks. Do you have private in insurance? if you do goto Cameron Huckell at pinnicle orthopedics its downtown by chippewa he came very highly recomended by everyone ive talked to. If he sends you to pain management (which he will but you need a recomendation from someone) and you wanna just be medicated till the pain is gone, goto Dr. Gosey on college pkwy his office is known to give out massive ammounts of meds untill the pain is gone, allthough this wont make the problem better and you will be medicated prolly the rest of your life. if you want surgery huckell will discuss the risks and benefits with you and tell you if its worth it (if your young he prob wont wanna do it since the best option is disk replacement and its only been approved for 25 years, so if your gonna be working more then 25 years he wont want to do it), thats your best bet. I had no fault coverage since i was hurt in a car accident and they both helped alot untill geico decided the 4 different Drs that said i was gonna be permentantly disabled were apperently wrong and there drs who just had a sit down interview and preformed no tests said i was fine to return to work and dont need to goto dr anymore.
if you dont have insurance or you lose your insurance your screwed thats where im at now. I went from getting 180 percocets a month from gosey which was great i could actually move to getting 60 7.5 loritabs and now am in pain allday everyday and they wont do anything else at this point.

urgh back pain sucks…i just booked an appt here to get on meds or something…

i lurk here, but anyways I figured i could give some useful advice…

a chipped spine may be treated a lot differently then a hernia. Sounds like the injury has caused some inflammation which in turn produces local edema and that may be pressing on the nerve causing pain and irritation. I’m assuming that you have tried ibuprofen to no avail. 800 mg of ibuprofen helps reduce inflammation, but that strength is available by Rx only.

my advice is go to a back specialist, get his opinion on your situation and get it looked at. You might need surgery, you might not. this all depends on the extent of the injury. They will do X-rays and MRIs to figure this out and the best course of treatment.

Hopefully you have health insurance or else you are up shits creek without a paddle on this. If its the result of someone elses negligence, hopefully its been documented and medical bills will be paid. if you cannot afford a specialist, go see your primary and maybe he can help you find ways to make it more managable.

on the topic of pain meds. While they are great on helping ease the pain that you may experience. at the same time they lower your threshold for pain making activities you found mildly irritable more painful. This leads to increased dosage, and more dependence. And that is how people become addicted. This is furthered by people who don’t get immediate relief, so they pop more and more until the pain is gone. Realize that the drug will not be fast acting. Give it time to set in.
One of the saddest things I see is people who have become addicted and let it rule their lives. Then shell out 700 dollars a month to get a suboxone script filled.

I hope this helps.
