Ok, well, after the wonderful storm and all the fish surviving in one tank, the other tank crashed and I lost almost all the fish in it; I have like 3 or 4 left out of almost 20.
It was a freshwater tropical community tank, but I’m thinking I want to make it into a Cichlid tank.
It’s a planted 55G with driftwood, lots of rocks and caves, etc. The only fish I’ll be keeping as long as he survives (he better!!) is the Adonis Pleco that’s about 6" without his tail.
The tank has a dual bio-wheel HOB filter, 2 heaters, Flourescent Plant lighting, and 2 pumpheads buried in the gravel.
I’m looking for advise on Cichlids that would work in this tank, I’m thinking the smaller 4-6" adult size; but I’m not sure where to start. Everything I’ve done/have is just Community and Semi-agressive setups.
The only thing I’ll be keeping with them is the Adonis, and he can hold his own; he’s one of the more agressive and expensive pleco’s out there, and has in the past taken a few of the community fish out for dinner because he felt like it.
I think I’m going to take a trip to The Fish Place and see what they have in stock for Cichlids and go from there.
buy them all at once, so they are all introduced to e/o at the same time, they will get very teritorial, i have 2 living comfortably in a 10gal tank, you could probably have like 8 or so live comfortably in a 55, they like caves alot and will move rocks around like crazy to make their area the way they want it. i bought mine all at the petshop across from caz park on seneca, but that was like 4 years ago, and i dont have any at all anymore, but they are def cool fish, will eat both dry food or live food
markeheim +1 , ive gotten alot of turtle snacks from them. but other then that ive looked at their fish and they have a real nice variety, good prices too
