comission is where it’s at

While working at IKON, I got a salary of $35,000/year and 5% of billable. If I went to a company and did network tasks, I billed at $100hour and got 5% of that for every billable hour. It made me want to work my ass off and I made a lot of money for 3 years. But they decided to close down and now i’m stuck here. i’m still hourly so it’s not as bad as salary, but I am trying to get back into consulting (where the real money is).

i’d rather get out of here 10 minutes early than tally my time and see how much of my life i waste :hs:

well if you think you can balance it out, then yeah. If you are working an average of 7 or 8 hours a week beyond what your salary calls for, then I’d be adding shit up, and at least taking it to someone and bitching that you are working way more than you are getting paid for.

you sign the contract about salary when you start, what is there to bitch about. If he is in a descent company, they will see his efforts and give him a good raise or more vacation time, but you really can’t bitch if you work more hours knowing you are a salary employee.

on the contract im sure it also states that he is supposed to be working ~40 hours a week. If he is consistently over that, then he would have a reason to bitch, the same as the company would have the right to bitch if he was working consistently well below that. I mean, i dont know what all his contract states, or whether they pay him enough that its not really worth bitching, or if he can make up for all the extra hours by stealing office supplies when no one is looking, but I dont like not being paid for work that im doing.
