Clutch fan problems

I have a clutch fan that will no shut off, regardless of the tempature.
I may just be starting my car and the fan will already be going.
Although, occassionally the fan will shut off, but start up right away again.
Does anyone know whats wrong?

The clutch is probably going bad. Do what I did and remove it completely. You will even notice your engine being the tiniest bit more responsive. Just undo the 4 bolts holding it to the pulley, take it off, and then put the 4 bolts back on. I have been driving like that for months, and haven’t had any problems with temperature. You can always go to the junkyard and pull the electric fans out of an altima and install those. I haven’t put mine in yet because I knew I wasn’t going to come close to overheating in the middle of winter.

Yeah, uh … clutch fan doesn’t it “turn” on.

It freewheels to a certain point to reduce drag on the engine and free up power.

If the motor is cold or cool, the fan should be partially disengaged, you should be able to spin it without turning the fan pulley. When the motor heats up, the fan should lock up.

If it’s locked when cold, or never locks up at all, the clutch is toast.

But yeah, it won’t “come on” and spin without the motor.

Sorry, I may not be reading you right.

Your electric fan can come on at any time. It could be a faulty switch, or your car is just running hot.

shes a liar. its fucked up she jus dont know what to do.

lol i got a clutch fan here ill throw on it
