Clutch IS DEAD!!!

Well thats great i have had the car for almost 2months now and BYE BYE Clutch!!

Clutch is facked i can put it into gear when the car is off but when its on NOT GONNA Happen…and if u hold in the clutch when the car is on & try to put it into gear which for one will never happen!! the clutch turns into pudding SO FUN!!!

So…Now i need a good place to buy a clutch + a place to do the install for me…maybe i should also get a lightweight flywheel since im at it!!!

i was looking @ Next Level Automotive im gonna call them tmr to find out pricing!!

so if someone could direct me to a good shop to get this done & also a good place to get a clutch & i guess lightweight flywheel that would also help…

Im not looking to do this all ASAP as i still have my other car…so i can hold out on this for a bit & well i need cash to fix it :slight_smile:

was it the clutch that came with your SR20 (in your sig)?
if so, how long did it last and did you inspect it prior?

I would be leaning towards Release Bearing or Slave Cylinder

I had a problem “last year” with my car not wanting to go into or out of gear (it would sometimes) then all of a sudden it wouldnt no matter what “which was caused by the Slave Cylinder be toast”

well…i have no idea my step father is the one that told me its the clutch and the only we can move the car is by pushing it because when the car is on u can put it in 1 2 3 4 5 or R so i dunno and when u press the clutch feels like pudding like i said before and if u try and gear it when u have the car on like try and move it into a gear the car idle seems to drop a bit and also the clutch does the puddin feel…

i dunno my step father is 25+yrs automotive i know he opened the clutch fluid and went and put his finger in and smelt it but i dunno he just said its the clutch but then he said…it could be what u said and something wasnt put in right when the person put in the clutch!!!

as for the car i got it the way it was when i bought it…havent done anything to it only an oil change and a turbo timer that i cant use because the fan is wired to stay on 24/7 but if i take out the key and let the timer work the fan turns off which makes the engine over heat so i cant use the time until the fan is rewired i guess!!!

o the clutch is a ACT heavy duty street disk clutch

the tranny came with the engine its the sr tranny but like i said above the ACT clutch!!!

Dude, jack the front up and just get someone to puch the clutch in while you look at the slave, if it is not moving that much then it is something els and not the clutch its self.

well if your pedal feels like pudding then it means you have no pressurein the pedal meaning either your MC or Slave Cylinder is toasted…

both can leak internally “the MC just leaks back into the res” so you would never see a leak on the ground…

but do what Benson said… jack up the car, have someone push in the clutch and inspect the Slave to see whether its moving or not but if you say the pedal goes dead then I’d be leaning more so towards the MC

sounds like the slave is no good

the slave and master are good. I broke the springs in the pressure plate which will not allow me to release the clucth. which is burnt out the fiction plate to metal. There is no leaks internal or external. I still have full travel.

now what? Which should I buy ACT, EXEDY or CLUTCH MASTER. DISC or PUCK design?Stage 2 or 3. I want drive it daily cruising and play on weekend at the track. My step father is fixing it no problem. I just confused on which to go? and who to buy from?

how long did it take you to line up the transmission ?

got it for $450 + 3% for using paypal so $465 all said and done.

today my step father and I only dropped the tranny and took out the clutch and stuff tmr he is gonna go get the flywheel done at a shop then we will finish the install but ya my step father took it all apart in like 45min or so working on his back with not a lot of room under the car as u can see in the pics i guess…
