I cant really argue with you there But I still wouldnt consider it a beaten car, and I see no justification of the issues :gotme:
I had an 06. I never had any reliability issues with the car. It was modified as well. Got about 20-22 mpgs around town with it and close to 30 mpg on the highway. As far as a daily driver it was great. Comfortable inside, decent factory audio system and fun to drive. The oil change is a bitch the first time but once you figure it out its cake. I actually kind of liked the top loading filter. The supercharger is right in the way though so make sure the motor is cool when you do it so you don;t burn yourself.
Higher mileage SS/SC’s can be had for under $10k. If you have the dough get the turbo one though. You can find 08’s for ~$18k. The SS/TC has a nicer interior, upgraded brakes and is much more powerful.
 Why would anyone buy a general motors product new.
I agree with the looks of the car… it’s a love it or hate it thing… I have never loved the big wing on the car but I’ve never had the motivation to swap it for a smaller one. I am over 25 though so I do hear you there… I’m personally just ready to move on to something a bit more suited to my age and interests now… I’m looking to build something I can track and although the Cobalt has treated me very well and is fun it’s not a track (drag racing) car by any means.
I also agree on the oil change… it’s actually really simple and doesn’t cost you anywhere near $80… If you change it yourself it will run you about $35-40 but that is due to the car using 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1. Nothing needs to be removed to change the oil you just need a socket extension or two.
If your taking about JDM junkies car I have to agree with the others that car is hammered, I’ve worked on that car and heard alot of storys about that car from his close friends
