it would void the warranty, and it would void the whole purpose of having a brand new car kinda, it probably would have more problems, but at the same time, if its 10 more grand for an SS and a SHITLOAD more for insurance, if he wants to take the risk on a hahn stage II kit, i believe it runs on about 9psi for 290 crank horse, which if the car ran effectivley and was tuned perfect, would blow the doors off a SS, still get the same mileage, and have much cheaper insurance, and the kits only 3grand shipped with all necessary parts and tuning manual, but then again, ya cant exactly trade it in, and it loses value, and you cant bring it to the dealer anymore LOL, but hey those are the pros and cons
My .02 cents on what seems to be your cobalt bashing.
The cobalt is nothing at all like the cavalier. Its a whole new car, hence the new name… Things like a couple different models, better quality parts, and better visual looks make it more then just a cheap DD. Its a sporty, yet reliable DD that people of all ages have enjoyed. The stock internals on cobalt engines are handling numbers above 400WHP, WITHOUT being upgraded. If you do it right, there is no question to how reliable the cobalt would be. I know of one member on my cobalt forums pushing over 400whp and around 375 wtq, and without any issues. Bashing a cobalt because its a GM product or for whatever reason is pretty ignorant. The Supercharged SS Cobalt had shown people that GM is more then capable of keeping up with the game, the stage kits make it more fun and more powerful to stay in that game. Now the new Turbo-Charged Cobalt SS has really opened people’s eye to what its capable of. Its been proven to keep right up with the infamous Evo X, within a matter of fractions of a second. It may not be a 400 HP RWD “Sports car” like that oh so beautiful Camaro I would love to get my hands on, but it certainly isn’t a car to shrug your shoulders at. Especially for the price.
To the OP, if you wish to tune your friends '08 Cobalt, Trifecta tuning has proven to work very well with tuning the '08 sport and the base model balts as well. They will send you a canned tune on a device that plugs into the car, based on your current mods. It will log data from teh car and you hook it up to the internet thru your computer and the guy at trifecta will custom tune your car over the internet thru the logs this thing makes. After all your tuning is done you send it back with a postage paid sticker they send you. Check them out… I’ll find the web page for you…
Check them out and send them email to see what they can do for you. HPtuners doesn’t support the base models unfortunately, so this is the next best thing.
synapse out near albany picked up the first one sold in that area and have been making good power out of it. They have some production kits and plenty of custom and tuning options if thats what your looking for.
Yes true if you want to waste your hard earned cash on a an econobox POS, I dont care how much power it makes, and how reliable it makes it, I still wouldn’t buy it, a cobalt is FAR from the only car that will do that well. and you know its not the car as much as it the people that are throughly convinced that their cobalt is on the same level as some kind of a high dollar sports car, trust me I’ve been to that view point with a POS car, and yeah I was a Fggt. there is alot more to buying a car than just pwr and performance IMO, if your buying a somthing like a cobalt SS It screams out that your just trying to be a tool on the streets for the cheap, as opposed to buying a car thats actually nice to drive, or better yet cheap and reliable and leaving that shit to the track.
I never said it was the only car that will take to the power mods so well, not once did i even hint towards it. You obviously have no idea what you are trying to say though, nor do you know anything about the cobalt SS. This car has drivers of all types of cars baffled, its not just about power and performance. This thing handles like a dream on the track as well as on the road. Until you can educate yourself more about what you are trying to argue, and clean up your typing, I refuse to talk this out with you. You are simply under educated when it comes to modding cars.
STFU, its a cheap car that I agree can preform, but I’d never buy, its extremely cheezy,by no means is it a good looking car, the 2.0L ecotech may be strong but it sounds like ass, and more importantly I’d wouldnt dare assosiate my self with the stigma of buying a COBALT as a preformance car, cheap solid DD sure, anything else no, enjoy your cobalt pal :roll:

whether ppl like cobalts or not…they are a good platform to start with from the factory. What’s the big deal if its american? Is it not okay for GM to build a nice compact car with some power?
I love my SS and who gives a fuck what people think. It’s a car, people need to get over the fact…it’s what this site is supposed to be about…not bashing who has what…well unless its rice
