Coilover Repair

Hey everyone, I’m not really sure if this is the right place to post this. If this is in the wrong section, Mod please move it. Thanks.

But anyways, to the main point. I’ve got a pair of Tein HR rear coilovers for S14 and one of them is slightly bent. The coilover is not leaking and it seems as though the rest of the coilover is fine. So I’m wondering if maybe there’s a way to fix it. Maybe bend it back straight. Lemme know what you guys think. And anyone who knows a shop that could fix this for me, please post here.

This picture is for comparison. The one on the right is the bent one. The one on the left is the straight one.

Thanks.

Jon

try putting it in the vice and giv’er.

If not i would talk to tein.

Take it to a Machine Shop. I wish I had someone I could recommend.

They should straighten it then reweld for strength. That looks like a rather simple fix.

^^ I think thats ok, but I would call tein or a local shop and find out if welding it will do, then get someone like me (welder) to do it for cheaper then the average shop.
IMO
good luck

i could fix that in 4 minutes

thanks for all the input guys, I’m gonna try and get in contact with Tein and ask them if welding it can be an option. JDM-KID, fastback240 I’ll be pm’ing you guys once I find out from Tein whether or not the coilover can be welded.

Keep the suggestions coming, and if anyone knows a shop that could fix this, post up in here. Thanks.

Jon

The problem with calling Tein is that they have a duty of care to uphold in order to void them of negligence. Tein will never recommend using a damaged product unless it has been fixed by an authorized Tein service repair dude/shop.

Plus, Tein obviously has a biased conflict of interest in this case. giving advise isn’t how they make money. they may recommend a shop to take it to though.
