looking into picking up some full coilovers
dont really want to go all out on the top of the line model/make, but i would really like to be able to raise an lower the car as well as to be in control of the dampaning
is there an entry level coilover system that fulfillz my needz?
the carz an 89 fastback
any help would be great
im looking to spend roughly around a thousand dollars!
can i get what im lookin 4 within that price range?
Zo why don’t you just go check out zome brandzzzz’ webzitezzzz and zee what modelzzzz they have in your price range? zzz
And for a thouzand dollarzzz, you’re gonna be looking at bottom of the line in any caze. Try and get in on a group buy like we had for the D2zzz… but forget about getting any new coiloverzzz from an eztablished and proven brand.
Haha
why do people do thatz honestlyz?
itz pissez me off
ENGLISH.
SPEAK IT.
Stop using MSN and ICQ, stop talking like a god damn middle school pre-pubescent girl using Instant Messenger.
christ!
I’m sorry but being an English major i can’t stand when someone hacks away at the language just because they picked it up over the internet using IM programs. I have seen it all…for example watching an english presentation back in high school for English class this kid unknowingly swapped all the YOU’s for U’s and he had it showing on the overhead.
I am so glad the teacher pointed it out to that kid and raised the same point about IM programs causing a bad habit.
The worst thing about it is though is that i bet you know what you are doing and that you could type in perfect English if you wanted to. The funny thing is and also the thing that pisses me off the most is that people could type in perfect english but they DON’T for some unknown reason.
You are not being cool when you end your words with a Z.
I digress…
check out the tein flex with the edfc, since you want to control your dampening.
Whats wrong with IM programs? I use them far more than I talk to people on the phone or in person.
And the TEIN Flex will retail for somewhere around $1800 + tax.
you guys are a bunch of idiots.
Jermaine is a decent guy and knows quite a bit of shit last time I talked to him. He is a former DSM owner so show him some respect, Or I’ll come and kick your ass Bob lol.
Help him out…
Like I said Jermaine my opinion is Tein HE’s for best bang for your buck.
Andrew.
Tein gets no respect in japan, i see dudes in japan bash them all the time…
i swear, even a couple years ago when they were gettign big over here and i was working at AW i could sense that the only reason they were going to be big was because of their marketing effort.
they had / have a very well-put-together marketing initiave in north america… who ever at Tein had the foresight to see the potential of this market should be promoted to the CEO of that company…
well executed as well…
it seems to me that they were able to reinvent themselves over here and gained a totally different part of the market.
over there they are mid-range, or at best one of those brands that has an offering in every niche category, because i know they make competition ready gear too…
i guess it is likened to a company like Sony, they make some audiophile type gear, or did, but they also make entry level poo-stuff. and so they spread their reputation over the whole line
where as a company like Zeal or Ohlins, only seem to make crazy expensive and elaborate systems.
mind you i have seen the price of Zeal come down alot as well.
thoughts?..
Andrew… no you wont…
And Bing, companies like JIC make garbage coilovers too… everyone makes fun of them too, because they sell overpriced garbage… I’ve seen more then a few instances of JIC snapping under race load… I’ve also seen them come valved completely wrong…
Who’s to say what is good and what isn’t? Find an independant test then talk shit about Tein when you have something to back it…
^^^ NO!
yeah, i like their marketing and promotional tactics and i know they sell products across product markets, ???..they suck…???
what about those KTS thing - a -mah - jigs?
SPL seems to have a sick reputation…
they also sell some other stuff called, mangusta or something
***edit… Topline ARagosta…and only $3000 USD…
what do u guys think of whiteline at $1800 USD?
a lot of the reason people talk so much shit about jic’s is because of their customer service in North america. Its horrible
ive been told he’s have poor valving… but i also know of people driving hard on them for 2 years with no problems. some beef over not going low enough in the rear same with d2
ive only read once of the jic’s snapping. but thats because the car that had them went off the track and into a dirt mound.
ive heard of ohlins snapping up near the camber plates…
after hitting a fucking curb…
of course shit is going to break if you crash.
and shit WILL break if you drift.
I’m talking about it snapping in the middle of turn… on asphalt just racing… they do it alot apparently too…
JIC sell the brand name… now their quality is going in the hole… when your shock bodies start breaking in half under lapping conditions you can’t justify people spending the money on them…
KTS is another D2 like clone…
of course shit is going to break if you crash.
and shit WILL break if you drift.
Thanks Captain Obvious
yea but he wants on the fly dampening adjustability.
TEIN HE’s are not compatible with the EDFC
you get what you pay for.
I’ll second what Jesse said about JIC service. Bastards.
However, I’ve never heard anything bad about TEIN. Sure they are well know to everyone, including those only looking for a name… but like Bob said, find out for yourself before you go insulting brands.
Back on topic. This guy is not going to find a set of new coilovers for the price he wants. Heck you can hardly even find a worthwhile strut/spring setup for that. I figured I’d tell him that and point out the fact that he spells with Zs at the same time.
check out section coilovers, i hear good things about them
freak do you have any links i wouldnt mind checkin for myself
i hope these were on an s chassis and installed correctly
They werent on an S chassis they were on a Datsun 510 and yeah they were installed correctly…
It doesn’t matter either way…
I cant find the 510 thread… I’ll have our buddies from Montreal send it to me tomorrow
And just to clarify, people treat JIC like we treat APC, over in Japan…
HE’s are 1800-1900 CDN.
I think your getting a well made product…
My choice would be between HE’s or section coilovers. I hear good things about them especially from the guys in Florida who drive on them. I’ve read many good posts about them on other boards. They are about 1500 US.
These are my 2 picks after much debate because of price and accounts from people driving on them.
I wish I could dig up some threads but if your inclined, go search all the big american boards and you will find what your looking for.
Andrew.
it’s strange the differences between countries eh?
alot of people here think JIC is awesome, but over there it is not the case.
heck i have seen guy spay big $$$ for D2’s in australia…
makes you wonder…
same thread different driver same car
“I snapped a tein flex while cornering hard”
im not suprised it broke after looking at some of the pics of him driving

huh? when was i infering that HE’s are crap?
i seperated my sentence with a double space to seperate the two ideas. i shall call it a mini-paragraph. I was only saying with coilovers you get what you pay for so don’t expect a quality product for DISCOUNT prices.
besides, they are entry level anyways when it comes to ‘drifting’ suspensions.

What would you concider not entry level?
I think they are good enough for anyone on this board, we arn’t race car drivers.
