Those following world news the last couple months know about the Cargo Ship Rena that ran aground on a reef off the coast of New Zealand in October. They have been slowly recovering the cargo from the ship, but it has been hampered by bad weather, and then recently, the ship broke in two, with the stern section sinking almost completely. The video shows the removal of the cargo, and the initial break up of it.
I was thinking that too. but what to you pull a stuck container ship with? another container ship? I am assuming they tried tug boats. I wonder if a large military ship could have done the job? Maybe it was not worth bringing in another large ship that close to land/reef or maybe there is nothing to attach too on a ship that you can pull that hard on without ripping it off piece by piece.
