Comcast > *

Two years ago Comcast moved into the Pittsburgh market when they purchased the AT&T cable operations nationwide. Currently Comcast is in the process of purchasing Aldephia. The deal should be complete sometime in 2006.

i probably would too if i was making the shit money that comcast pays their installers. If your supervisor finds out you took the money, you’ll get fired. and trust me, a positive call to my boss goes a lot further than 20 bucks in my pocket

You are correct Sir!

regualar broadcast satellite > cable

i have regualar OTA HD so i haven’t compared the 2 HD’s but from what ive been told they are very similar with satellite having a slight edge.

I saw that Dish network bought Voom so now they offer the biggest selection of HD channels.
i might switch from direct to dish after the new year & test it out with the voom package.

comcast highspeed >*

each month it keeps getting faster:boink

OnDemand >*

Fios > comcast high speed

If FIOS is as reliable as Verizon’s DSL is, Comcast is fucking GOLDEN.

This is what I was looking for, thanks! I knew it wasn’t AT&T, but i wasn’t sure which company they were called now… gracias!

chocolate chip please!!!

not positive but I imagine fios would be built in a ring topology so it would actualy be more like comcast

i don’t care if every show ever televised is on-demand.

if it looks like shit i don’t wanna see it.

its a nice service/idea but i still can’t get past their poor SD quality.

rabbit ears>*

if you have the reciever you can get over the air HD with rabbit ears :bigok:

i have an indoor & a roof mount (thanks to gearhead) that i use & i get all locals in HD.

didn’t read the whole thread but…Comcast is a pretty decent company. I moved to hickory hills(in wexford) where you must buy their own private DSL/phone/cable. The DSL is sooo slow compared to comcast and it is the same price. If you do not need the Super highspeed of comcast why not go with Verizon…14.99? Comcasts cable TV is wayyy over priced if you go anything above expanded basic. I had comcast for 3 years and their internet Tech support was VERY VERY good in comparison to most companies(where they just have some yahoo reading from a screen).

i’m stoked for fios :coold:

yea comcast rocks, other then ther customer suport…

very true, they gotta add better movies

FIOS is ok, but everywhere Verizon is rolling out the fiber, Comcast is stepping up the speed to match. I have played on both versions in the Dallas market and the difference is minimal. Side by Side the upgraded Comcast sites were still getting a little bit better on through-put. To each their own though I suppose. The major difference right now is the architecture behind it all. Verizon is rolling out their service with somewhat dated backbones behind it. Comcast just spent a ton of cash on their HSD and VOD backbones. Pure optical 10G backbones running all over the major markets, and brand new upgraded CMTS’s. I just put in all the backbone nodes in the area for Comcast earlier this year and they are up and running flawlessly. Anyone curious and can actually understand the technical babble and wants to know what kind of equipment is running in the background in the area feel free to drop me a line.

they need to make the cable companies compete for customers. digital cable and cable modems are ridiculosly expensive.
