compressor housing weldable?

the compressor outlet has a flange that a j-pipe is supposed to bolt to. I think that is really annoying and i wanna just weld a pipe to it.

what material is it? can i weld a pipe to it?

yes u can weld to it my turbo had an elbow welded to it

is it mild steel? or stainless?

its not really gonna be load bearing so as long as it seals it and sticks thats all im looking for.

please no JBWeld reccomendations

not to sure on that one its not SS though

ok. and iits not aluminum so it must be mild steel. thanks.

i have yet to see a compressor housing that wasnt alum… are you sure it is not alum

stick a magnet to it

if it sticks its steel if it doesnt alum

I think all compressor housings are alu, unless its from 1910 or some shit. But yes, they can be welded, they weld well, if cleaned well.

hmm. u guys are probably right. well my mig welder doesnt weld aluminum soooooooo.

i weld aluminum.

willing to help me out?

pm me

be sure to remove the housing before welding, you dont want any weld snot to get down into the compressor wheel
