Father has a circa 2006 Emachines desktop…
It’s working well now, but under ‘sounds and audio devices properties’, it says that there is no device installed. However, when you go over to hardware, it says everything is installed and working properly.
Ideas?
check emachines website or the sound cards website for possible updated drivers

Either way check the Device Manager to make sure the driver is installed for the audio. if it isn’t you will see a yellow ! sign under Audio. If this is the case get the make/model and go to the correct website and download and install the audio driver for the OS you are using. This should fix your problems.
No, the sound does not work. The volume/etc is all unadjustable. I don’t recall seeing any yellow ! signs, but I’ll look at it later. Thank you.

if its running windows try rolling back the driver under device manager right click the sound hardware and choose properties then you should have a couple of tabs, i forget what one its under but theres an option to rollback the driver try that first before you go looking for new-shit windows may have done an auto update and fucked it up by installing the win-blows driver.
