Converting PDF to Adobe In-Design

Anybody know a way top do this without buying the Recosoft program? One of our clients used a designer who used really old PDF files, and now we are hired to clean up her mess. Anyone?

it depends a lot on the nature of what you are trying to clean up and how the files were converted to PDF.

sure you can just import the files in to indesign and have varying levels of success.

another option is to use Pitstop to edit the PDFs (you’d be amazed how much you can edit).

but overall, the nature of a PDF will limit the ability to edit and import. It’s never as easy as just converting back to word / indesign / quark or wherever they came from. (much like trying to turn an MP3 back into lossless CD audio)
