Converting record to mp3/cd?

My dads birthday is this week, and my mom wants to get him a device to upload records to either burn them onto cd or mp3. looking for something that can separate tracks etc, and must be fairly simple to use (my dad isn’t much with computers)

anyone have any experience w/this kind of stuff

record direct into a sound card, use a program like soundforge.

there’s a million ways to do it, and no “set” method

There is no magic device out there that does. Or at least that I’m not aware of. What d.star said is how I do it.
