Copying DVD's?

I’m looking to “back up my collection” and am looking for advice as to the best way to go about it… I’d like to keep as much as the quality and sound as possible.

Are there any good free programs out there?

thanks for any advice!

i have had problems with dvd shrink cracking some dvds

get a external portbale hard drive with crazy storage capacity

stop using this pic already!!!

DVDFab Platinum.

DVD Shrink doesn’t work with about 1/2 of the new releases now. 3.2 was the last version released and there have been tons of new copy protection schemes added since then.

what do these programs do…do they compress the DVD files like a zip or rar file

DVDFab gets around the copy protection and copies the dvd to your computer. dvd shrink compresses the files so that it will fit onto a single layer dvd but you can also use it to burn it onto a dual layer dvd too

DVDFab does a lot more than just copy it to your hard drive.

You get all the same options as DVD Shrink, but with DVDFab it actually works with new titles.

For me, I want the best quality possible so I choose “Main Movie”, rip out all the extras and menus etc, leave just the main movie with the English 5.1 sound. Doing that most require no compression for a DVD5 disk. Some still need compression, which DVDFab does automatically, but by ripping all the extras it’s usually only a few percent.

It’s quite idiot proof. A couple clicks and walk away. On my really old desktop (1ghz w/512) it takes about 20 minutes to copy a dvd. I know DVDFab Platinum offers a 30 day trial, then you just have to find the crack. I think I’m probably going to just end up buying it since updates come out so often. I’m tired of searching for a new crack all the time.

yea i was quite upset when they stopped offering DVDFab for free, i still use the older version b4 they put in the 30 day trial

I’ve always used DVD-Decryptor and it works like a charm

i use shrink and nero…
buut like others have said dvd shrink is only good for movies before 2ish years ago…other then that it works fine…its just in the past two years that companys have cracked down and shrink has not done anything to counter it

Until you come across something with sony arcos protection…

oh, never saw it before

although a little OT

DH was using that boot loader program and an 80gig HDD for his ps2, and when he put in an EA game, to copy it, it killed the HDD

go figure

AnyDVD + shrink FTW

dvdfab decrypter & shrink
