Cosmos w/ Neil deGrasse Tyson

Anyone else watching this reboot of the original Cosmos with Carl Sagan? It’s also produced by Seth MacFarlane http://icons.iconarchive.com/icons/jeanette-foshee/simpsons-10/32/Family-Guy-Brian-the-dog-icon.png

First episode was last week Sunday and 9pm tonight is the 2nd.

My only problem with the first episode was the inaccurate visual used to show the asteroid belt. It certainly doesn’t look like Star Wars and isn’t densely packed like movies and Cosmos illustrated.

I’m watching it

I’ve enjoyed it

Good so far. Loved the dedication to Sagan at the end of the first episode.

Asteroid belts aren’t packed like the ones in Star Wars, they’re actually super far away from each other. I’ll try to find the article where it explains this, I think it was space.com that had the original artice.

This is a big misconception. There is a ton of space out there and the asteroid belt is no where near as dense as some movies make it show and being difficult to fly through. It is dense compared to how big space is but it is just a rotating ring of rocks that are stuck in a mid gravity field.

It’s not what I was hoping for. I like having my mind blown by science, and this show has been little more than a high school science class.

I think the same way, although it’s only 2 episodes in.
